Training Opportunities and Outreach

The staff at Abbey Archaeology have extensive experience in Zooarchaeology and Human Osteology. We enjoy sharing our expertise and knowledge with others.

Our community outreach program includes two main activities. Firstly, we give presentations at events or conferences to highlight the exciting research we conduct in osteoarchaeology. Secondly, we offer hands-on workshops that provide practical insights into interpreting animal remains discovered on archaeological sites.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in zooarchaeology or osteoarchaeology, or if you are seeking a comprehensive overview of the field or a way to revive forgotten skills, you may find our Human Osteology or Zooarchaeology short courses to be a perfect fit for you. However, I would like to point out that these courses are designed to provide an introduction or a refresher to the field and cannot offer the extensive knowledge and skills required to become a professional in just a few days.

If you are an archaeologist or responsible for training archaeological professionals, we can arrange classes or events to help differentiate between human and animal bones encountered on archaeological sites.

If you are interested in organising training or outreach tailored to your needs or learning more about our events, please contact:
